Distracted driving causes crashes

This video by the Ontario Government depicts the devastating consequences of distracted driving.  The statistics don’t lie, distracted driving causes crashes.  The Insurance Bureau of Canada today reported that 8 out of 10 collisions, or 80% involve distracted driving. The Bureau also reports that drivers text messaging are 23 times more likely to be involved in a collision.  According to ICBC, distracted driving is a leading cause of car crash fatalities in BC.  ICBC also says that you are five times more likely to crash if you are on your phone.  Despite these statistics we all still see motorists on the road using their phones.  The increased fines which were recently introduced will help change the culture and behavior of motorists around using handheld devices while they are driving.  What all motorists need to understand is that choosing to drive distracted is choosing to endanger the life of themselves and other users of the road.  When your eyes are not on the road things will happen.  Share this video to help stop distracted driving.
